Changelog
What’s new in Palet, newest first.
-
A new home for your files
Palet now lives at palet.so, and the app at app.palet.so. Your files open on a home page built like a design tool’s, not a plain list.
- Each file shows a live preview drawn from its own canvas.
- Switch between a grid and a list, search by name, and sort by last edited, date created or name.
- Right-click a file to open, rename, export or delete it.
- Move between files with the arrow keys, and press / to jump to search.
- Drop a .palet.json file anywhere on the page to import it.
- Choose light, dark or system theme in Settings.
- Files open at short /doc/ addresses you can bookmark.
-
Sign in with a magic link
No passwords to remember. Enter your email, and we send a link that signs you in, or creates your account if you’re new.
- Links work once and expire after 5 minutes.
- New accounts start with a short onboarding: your name and your workspace.
- The workspace name is suggested from your work email’s domain.
- Add a profile photo, or remove it, in Settings.
-
Vectorise in the editor
Turn any image into editable vector layers without leaving the canvas. Tracing runs in the background, so the canvas stays responsive.
- Drop or paste a PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or GIF onto the canvas, or use the image tool.
- Pick a preset and from 2 to 16 colours, then vectorise. You get one path per colour.
- Recolour any path, hide it, or mark it Theme colour so it follows light and dark.
- Export the result as SVG, or copy the SVG straight to your clipboard.
- Large images are scaled down before tracing, so big photos still work.
- Undo brings the original image back.
-
The canvas
The first version of the Palet canvas. Draw frames and text, arrange them in layers, and fine-tune them in the inspector.
- Frames and text, with keyboard shortcuts for every tool.
- A layers panel to see, select and rename everything on the canvas, nested as you built it.
- Bring layers forward or send them back with ⌘] and ⌘[, or Ctrl on Windows and Linux.
- An inspector for position, size, layout, appearance and text.
- Undo and redo for every change.
- Export a file as .palet.json, images included, and import it again.
- Files are saved in your browser, and only one tab edits a file at a time, so nothing is overwritten.
