Who we are

Palet (“we”, “us”) offers the Palet site and app. These terms cover the Palet site at palet.so and the Palet app at app.palet.so. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Questions go to [email protected].

Your account

You sign in with a link we email to you, so your account is only as secure as your email. Keep it to yourself, and keep any API keys you create secret: anything done with your account or your keys is your responsibility. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.

You must be at least 16 to use Palet. If you create a workspace and invite people to it, you’re responsible for who you invite and the roles you give them.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Palet to:

break the law, or infringe anyone else’s rights, including by tracing images you don’t have the right to use;
send spam or unwanted invitations;
get around rate limits, probe or break our security, or access accounts and workspaces that aren’t yours;
overload, disrupt or reverse engineer the service, except where the law or an open-source licence allows it.

Your content stays yours

You own what you make in Palet. Your design files and their images are stored in your browser on your device, not on our servers, so we don’t have access to them and claim no rights in them.

Because they live on your device, keeping them safe is up to you. Clearing your browser’s site data or losing the device removes files you haven’t exported, and we can’t recover them. Export files you care about as .palet.json.

Vectorise and potrace

Palet’s vectorise feature traces images with potrace, which is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 (GPL-2.0). Tracing runs in your browser. The SVG output you trace is yours, and the GPL doesn’t apply to it. If you’d like the source code that the GPL entitles you to, email [email protected].

Early access

Palet is in early access, and it will change: features may be added, changed or removed, and there may be bugs or downtime. The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

Plans and pricing

Canvas is free.
Studio is $20 per editor per month, or $16 per editor per month billed yearly. It’s free during early access.
Atelier is priced by contract.

We won’t charge you without your agreement. Before billing starts, we’ll announce it and the prices, and you’ll choose whether to continue on a paid plan. See the pricing page for what each plan includes.

Ending your use

You can stop using Palet at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts the service or other people at risk. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you first. Your files stay on your device either way.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of Palet. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Palet in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Palet grows. We’ll change the date at the top of this page and, for changes that matter, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Palet after that, the new terms apply.
